Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy covers simonlawpllc.com and the review requests the firm sends to former clients. It does not replace the firm’s duties to its clients. Information you share as a client is also protected by the rules of professional conduct and your retainer agreement.

What we collect

• When you visit. Our hosting provider automatically records basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time, so it can run and protect the site. Public pages set no cookies.
• When you call or email. We receive whatever you choose to tell us, and use it to respond. Please don’t send confidential details until the firm has confirmed it can represent you.
• When the firm asks you for a review. The firm enters your name and email address, and sometimes a personal note. We record when the request was sent and when your link was first opened.
• When you send a review. We receive your video (which includes your image and voice) and a still image from it, or your written review. We also keep the permissions you checked, your typed signature, how you want your name shown, the date and time, and your browser type.
• Firm staff. The private screen where the firm manages reviews uses one sign-in cookie, for its staff only.

Your camera is used only after you choose to record. Your recording stays on your device until you press send, so if you stop or leave first, we receive nothing. We don’t use face or voice recognition.

How we use it

• To respond to you, and to ask former clients about their experience.
• To review what you send and, only with your written permission, show it on this website and in the firm’s marketing.
• To keep a record of the permission you gave.
• To run and secure the site, and to meet legal and professional duties.

We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

Who can see it

• The people handling reviews. Lance D. Simon, Esq., and Matthew Gambino, who manages the firm’s website. A new review is emailed to both of them.
• Service providers that run the site for us. Vercel (hosting and storage), Resend (sending email) and the email services the firm and its website manager use to receive messages, which include Google. They handle information so these services can work.
• The public, once a review is approved. An approved review can be seen by anyone, using the name format you chose. People could copy it, and we can’t control those copies.
• Others when the law requires it. For example, to comply with a court order.

If you leave a Google review, you post it on Google, under Google’s terms and privacy policy. To change or remove it, use your Google account. This site also links to other sites, such as Avvo, Super Lawyers and Facebook, which have their own policies.

How long we keep it

We keep a review and its permission record while it’s in use or being considered, or until you ask us to remove it. We may remove review requests that go unanswered, and reviews we decide not to use. We keep anything else only as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law or the firm’s professional duties require. Our hosting provider keeps its technical records under its own schedule.

Your choices

• Withdraw your permission or remove your review. Tell us at any time. We’ll take it off the site, delete it from storage, and delete the copies in our email. Withdrawing doesn’t affect uses that already happened.
• See, correct or delete your information. Ask us, and we’ll respond within 30 days. If we have to keep something, we’ll tell you why.
• Stop review requests. Reply to the email or contact us, and we’ll stop within 10 business days.

Everyone has these choices, wherever they live, and we won’t treat you differently for using them. Contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

California residents

This site doesn’t follow visitors over time or across other websites, and no other party collects that kind of information through it. Browser “Do Not Track” signals therefore don’t change how the site works.

The firm does not meet the size thresholds of the California Consumer Privacy Act, but the choices above are open to California residents too. The firm doesn’t share personal information with others for their own marketing.

Children

This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. Review requests go only to adult former clients. If you believe a child’s information reached us, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

The site uses encrypted connections. Reviews are kept in private storage until approved, and the firm’s review screen requires a code sent by email. No system is perfectly secure, and ordinary email is less secure than this site, so please don’t send sensitive details by email. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

Outside the United States

The firm is in New York, and this site is run from the United States for people seeking legal help in New York. Information you send is handled in the United States.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we’ll post it here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we’ll note it at the top of this page, and we’ll contact you directly if it affects a review you’ve already given us.
